30 Defense Projects Go on Stream in Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announced on Tuesday that 30 important defense projects went online during the last week.
During the week, 30 defense projects, including production of the needed raw materials needed for the manufacture of military tools and equipment, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), communication, electronic and night-goggle systems, went on stream, Vahidi reiterated, reminding that the event took place in the Week of Sacred Defense to mark Iranian sacrifices during the 8 years of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.
He made the remarks in a ceremony to launch the latest version of Iranian-made missile-launching frigate named 'Derafsh' in the country's forth naval zone.
Referring to the frigate, Vahidi underlined, "The frigate is a very complicated product which includes different parts like artillery, missiles, various electronic, radar and fire-control systems and all the equipments have been produced inside the country."
He also announced that the defense ministry has taken other steps in different fields, including the manufacture of vessels two times larger than Derafsh frigate in size.
Earlier on the day, Commander of the Iranian Army's Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari reiterated that Iran's new missile-launching frigates enjoy the most advanced systems and equipment.
"The equipment will be used in accordance with the threats posed to the Islamic Republic of Iran," Sayyari told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to launch the latest version of Sina-calss missile-launching frigates in the jetty of Iran's fourth naval zone.
"Iran has reached full self-sufficiency in the production and manufacture of vessels and necessary equipment for different marine missions, including surface and sub-surface missions," he added.
Iran in May started production of 30 important military tools and equipment, including electronic, telecommunication and radar devices.
"The exact and coherent planning by the defense industries, specially electronic industries of the defense ministry, in recent years caused the production of more qualitative and varied products by the defense industries of the defense ministry," former Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar stated during an inaugural ceremony held for the launch of operation of the production lines of the said devices.
"These new production lines and products are related to electronic warfare, anti-electronic warfare, radar and sonar systems, air and sea cruising and positioning, electro optical and laser systems and different advanced and thermal night goggles, military communication and simulators," he added.
Najjar reiterated that Iran had produced advanced electronic warfare and anti-electronic warfare and radar systems, including information gathering, wiretapping, orientation, spotting and positioning systems which operate in different (radio) bands, process different kinds of information and have the capability to identify enemy data and spot and paralyze enemy transmitters.

Iran to Mass-Produce Air-to-Air Heat-Seeking Missiles
TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior commander announced that the Iranian Defense Industry is due to start mass production of heat-seeking air-to-air missiles designed by the country's Air Force.
Iranian Air Force Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shahsafi told the Islamic republic news agency that this missile with a test-fire range of over 40 kilometers is one of the heat-seeking missiles designed in the Iranian Air Force Research Center which has already been used in military maneuvers.
He also said that the design phase of invisible airplanes has been completed in the Air Force, adding that the first prototype plane of this category is under construction.
Referring to the high readiness of the Iranian Air Force to face any eventualities, he said the force has recently forced some foreign intruding airplanes to land before managing to go out of the Iranian air space.
Shahsafi underlined that the Iranian Air Force along with other military forces is determined to keep itself in a state of high preparedness in spite of all hostile threats and propaganda in order to strongly confront any security threats.
He pointed to the capability of rapid reaction as a remarkable character of the Iranian Air Force to defend Iran's interests in this sensitive region notably in the Persian Gulf.
The Air Force commander said Iran pursues an independent policy in this sensitive region and tries to equip itself with the most sophisticated weaponry systems.

Irán prueba avión caza furtivo de fabricación iraní
Actualizado 2010-02-08 08:06:32 | Spanish. News. Cn

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran on Monday inaugurated the production line of two home-made Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with bombing and reconnaissance capabilities.
The two hi-tech drones named 'Ra'd' (Thunder) and 'Nazir' (Harbinger) are capable of conducting long-range reconnaissance, patrolling, assault and bombing missions with high precision.
Ra'd which is a UAV of choice for assault and bombing missions has the capability to destroy the specified targets with high pinpoint precision.
Experts believe that once the UAV enters the scene of aerial missions, it would enhance the reconnaissance, patrolling and defensive power of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Armed Force.
Iran has recently made good progress in the air industry and has succeeded in gaining the technical know-how for producing stealth aircraft and drones.
Iran successfully tested a home-made radar-evading UAV with bombing capabilities in June. Also in 2008, the country's Defense Industries launched production lines of two well-known home-made fighter jets, namely Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) and Azarakhsh (Lightening).
Last March, Iran started construction of a plant in the northern province of Mazandaran to mass produce Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
Hamed Saeedi, Managing Director of Farnas Aerospace Company in charge of the project, said that his company has been dealing with designing and manufacturing UAVs and reconnaissance and pilot training drones for the last 9 years.
"We plan to manufacture UAVs, including unmanned choppers and drones, at this site" he said, referring to the plant in Mazandaran province.
Regarding specifications of the UAVs to be produced by the plant, Saeedi noted, "Drones will be of the tactical type, with a short range of 400 to 500 meters flying altitude which cannot be detected by radio waves as they will be stealth aircraft."
He singled out detection and control of contraband trafficking on land and in the sea and assistance in firefighting operations, specially in the woods as among other advantages of the UAVs to be manufactured in the plant.
Iranian army officials had announced in June that they have successfully tested a home-made radar-evading Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) with bombing capabilities.
"This airplane is a model drone built on a one-seventh scale for the defense ministry," Commander of the Iranian Army Air Force General Hassan Shah Safi announced in June, adding that the UAV bomber would be produced in actual size and would join the Iranian Air Force fleet in the near future.
He explained that the UAV has been designed and manufactured for reconnaissance and bombing missions, specially considering its radar-evading advantage.
Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran, to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.
Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.

Iran realiza prueba exitosa de avion Stealth
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran has successfully tested the research model of its first home-made radar-evading aircraft named 'Sofreh Mahi'(flatfish), a senior Iranian army commander announced on Sunday.
"The research model of this plane which staged a successful flight passed all radar-evading tests that we desired," Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Army Air Force General Aziz Nasirzadeh told FNA.
The General said that the flatfish-inspired shape of the aircraft as well as the materials used in its structure have provided the aircraft with the radar-evading capability.
He also announced that once the aircraft passes further tests and its features and capabilities are completed, the Defense Ministry will start its mass production.
Production of the actual size as well as mounting and testing weapons and a number of systems on the aircraft are the next phases before we can start its mass production, Nasirzadeh said.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi described Iran's newly mass-produced anti-armor missile as a "world class" weapon.
"We know no missiles in the world stronger than this missile (Toufan 5)," Vahidi said on Saturday.
Reminding the specifics of the Toufan 5 (Hurricane), the minister said that the missile has two warheads capable of destroying Tanks, armored vehicles and also personnel carries.
"The missile has high penetration power and can penetrate into different types of armors," Vahidi went on to say.
The Iranian defense ministry on Saturday inaugurated production lines of a new anti-armor missile, Toufan 5, and an anti-chopper missile, 'Qaem', both with high penetration and destructive powers.
Regarding capabilities of Qaem missiles, the Iranian defense minister stated that the semi-heavy guided missile can destroy targets flying at low speeds and altitudes, specially the aggressive choppers equipped with armor-like bodies and is not prone to enemy's electronic warfare as they are laser-guided.
"Once these advanced weapons are mass produced and delivered to the Armed Forces, Iran's defense power in ground and air combats will be reinvigorated," Vahidi said.
Last Tuesday, one of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) official said that Iran has designed a new kind of surface-to-air missile to bring down the United States' much boasted Apache choppers.
Colonel Nasser Arab-Beigi, the head of IRGC's Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization, made the remarks in an exclusive interview with FNA.
"Enemies should not imagine that if their Apache choppers have shown a mighty and desirable performance in Iraq and Afghanistan, they can show the same might and power in a possible aggression against Iran. We will certainly put an end to the power of their Apaches through our measures," Arab-Beigi stressed, without specifying the type of the weapon Iran is manufacturing to shoot down Apache choppers.

We will certainly put an end to the power of their Apaches through our measures," Arab-Beigi stressed, without specifying the type of the weapon Iran is manufacturing to shoot down Apache choppers.
